On 23 June 2026, the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS-L) welcomed a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and members of the Programme Management Teams (PMTs).

A meeting was held with the Council’s management, during which CNRS-L presented its mandate, ongoing programmes, and operational activities, with particular emphasis on its role in providing scientific evidence and technical support for informed decision-making. Discussions focused on the way forward for strengthening collaboration between CNRS-L and the different UN Agencies, enhancing coordination mechanisms, and identifying opportunities for more integrated planning, implementation, and information sharing across sectors.

The visit also included a tour of the National Center for Natural Hazards and Early Warning, where the delegation was introduced to the Center’s operational activities since the onset of the war. The team presented its methodologies for data collection, validation, analysis, and information management to ensure the production of reliable and evidence-based datasets. The delegation was also briefed on the damage assessment methodologies based on satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, and geospatial technologies, as well as the Lebanese National Platform for Monitoring Damage and Needs, which serves as an integrated decision-support system for government institutions and international partners.
