CNRS-L Welcomes a Sida Delegation Accompanied by ESCWA Representatives

On 6 October 2026, a delegation from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), accompanied by representatives of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), visited the National Council for Scientific Research – Lebanon (CNRS-L). The delegation then visited the National Center for Natural Hazards and Early Warning (NCNE), accompanied by CNRS-L Secretary General Dr. Chadi Abdallah.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the Center’s work on renewable energy in Lebanon and the Arab region, including efforts in solar energy mapping as well as work documenting damage caused by Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

The discussions also addressed how the outputs of the Regional Initiative for the Assessment of Climate Change Impacts (RICCAR) have informed CNRS-L and NCNE’s work in climate change and disaster risk reduction, and explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation and identify potential areas for future collaboration.
