Mr. Imran Riza, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, visited the National Council for Scientific Research – Lebanon (CNRS-L), where he met with the Secretary General, Dr. Chadi Abdallah. Discussions focused on the joint national efforts in damage and loss assessment led by CNRS-L, and on the continued support of the United Nations system in strengthening these efforts.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the overall assessment of losses and to further advance the ongoing collaboration between the UN and CNRS-L, while exploring prospects for expanding cooperation through joint initiatives and strategic partnerships. The visit also included a tour of the National Center for Natural Hazards and Early Warning, where the delegation was briefed on the methodologies applied in damage assessment using satellite imagery and artificial intelligence. In addition, the team presented its operational action plan since the onset of the war, detailing the approaches adopted for data collection, analysis, and organization to ensure accuracy and continuous updating of information.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Pierre Daher, Special Assistant to the RCHC; Ms. Kristine Najjar, Data Management Officer at the Resident Coordinator’s Office; and Ms. Ghinwa Chlouk, Economist.
