NCNE Representative Participated in the 3rd Euro-Mediterranean Workshop on Fire Risks
Dr. Rouba Ziade, representing the National Center for Natural Hazards & Early Warning (NCNE) of CNRS-L, participated in the 3rd Euro-Mediterranean High-Level Workshop on Fire Risks held in Paphos, Cyprus on 7–8 May 2026, co-organised by the European Commission (DG ECHO) and the Union for the Mediterranean within the framework of the PPRD Med Programme.
The presentation entitled “Integrated Wildfire Risk Assessment, Anticipation and Early Warning”, highlighted the work of the National Center for Natural Hazards & Early Warning (NCNE) of CNRS-L in forest fire anticipation and early warning in Lebanon through fire index bulletins, operational dashboards, risk mapping, and alert applications.
The workshop focused on strengthening regional cooperation and operational coordination on wildfire risk management across the Euro-Mediterranean region, with discussions covering prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and the use of advanced technologies.
